FROM THE PRESiDENT

Technology and information processing continue to make our business one that is evolutionary. Each new step we take is designed to create more useful and timely information for the employee and the client, all the while keeping our cost of doing business in an affordable range. As you peruse this newsletter, you will see areas in which we have made significant strides. Of particular interest are things like the welcome letter that helps create employee expectations and sets a positive tone for the employment relationship. We have added new benefits like Tower Federal Credit Union, and we expect to roll out three or four new, no cost employee benefits in the first half of the year. We are moving ahead trying to create an environment where workers will have no incentive to seek alternative employment based on benefit programs and the availability of information.

While we make these improvements, we have to remain ever sensitive to the "high touch" aspect of our mission. Almost by its very definition the human resource aspect of running a business has limits to how much of it can be done electronically. So as you can see in this edition of our newsletter the technical side of our business is moving ahead rapidly, but we have not lost sight of the fact we are in the "people" business!

Tower offers 24-hour online access to your accounts and to online loan applications, therefore providing easy access even for those employees who live outside of Maryland.

Some of the advantages Tower offers are:

  • Free Checking with no fees, no minimum balance, no monthly service charges.
  • Low fixed rate on credit cards.
  • Low rates on Auto Loans, Mortgage Loans, Home Equity Loans
  • New Member Discount-extra 1% off the low-rate auto loan and various other loan products.

Employee Welcome Letters

This year, we began sending welcome letters to all newly hired employees. This letter is intended to familiarize the employee with both HRi and our client, as well as notify the employee of several key items.

Benefit Information If the employee is eligible for benefits, the letter will notify them of the applicable eligibility date by benefit category, as well as indicate when enrollment forms must be received by HRi. The letter includes all applicable enrollment forms.

Retirement Plan Information We notify the employee that they may be eligible to participate in a retirement plan and will be notified at a later date of eligibility.

HRi Online and Additional Information In this section of the letter, we cover additional benefits including DELL computer discounts, online tutorials and access to personal information via our website. We automatically generate login names and passwords for all new employees and provide this information.

We believe the information included in the welcome letter will ease the burden from our clients and help transition the employee into their new position. Please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or feedback concerning the welcome letter.
